air smog pump part identification
Took the air / smog pump out today and wasn't expecting to find this part attached. Any ideas on what it is and it's purpose. It goes between the pump and the manifold to the exhaust. It has a vacuum hose attached to it.

I dont know what its for but it a vacume operated valve not shown in tha haynes book or another detail that I have, I removed my air pump completly its not required in the UK to meet the emmisions tests I cut the hose at the manifold leaving about an inch to push a bolt into to seal the vacume port . Works fine no problems
