DME relay question
I have the seats out of my '86 911 and noticed the DME relay, which works just fine, no problems, is marked 12V 15A but my spare says 12V 30A. Why the difference in Amps? The one now installed is probably original, and the spare is the correct part number etc, bought from pelican made by K.A.E.
Also, can this DME be changed on the fly with seat in place? Looks tricky. Has anyone changed this on the road? |

I'm so good, I can change mine with my toes while the car is still rolling.
As far as the DME amp number, It may just be the rating for the relay. I've got a KAE and a spare URO both say 30A. |

In my current issue I don't even screw it in
I let it hang with a zip tie . |

Just the contact rating.....and yes: 30 Amp is healthier (beefier) than a 15 Amp relay!!!
Easy to change with seat in situ.....you just need to be sure you've the correct tools to make it an easy go. Geeze,..I keep two of 'em nearby! BEST! Doyle

URO relays need to be pre float tested......

I've used KAE with no issues (knock on wood). Slide the seat back and loosen the 10mm nut and you're off and running.

Didn't mean change DME on the fly, I meant stopped, parked and immobile. Guess I'll pratice while the seat is out. |

Must be "Unreliable replacement order"

I would be a little concerned with a 15A relay, considering it feeds a fuel pump fused at 25A.
