If it's not one thing...

If it is not one thing it is another....

Transmission was fixed, new clutch, engine bay cleanup, new seals/o-ring/plugs/wires/cap/rotor/filters etc....

Now one of the sway bar mounts is broken. One had obviously broken in the past and was welded (not welded well either) and now the other has broke. I guess this is a common thing, but damn. So, out the door will go a couple hundred more $$$$'s...

The only good thing is that now they can/will be fixed right, but still...

It's a shame you don't have a buddy with a MIG. It's probably an easy fix.

MIG has a tendency to leave bird crap welds with poor penetration in the overhead position if one doesn't have a lot of practice. I like fast-freeze 6011 rod in my ancient 1960s Wards machine.

Thanks fellas. The weld will not be too bad, I have some friends out here that can weld beyond belief. The biggest pain is now ordering the new mounts (probably go with the Wevo's), cutting and prepping the old mounts out and just getting everything done. This is all after getting all the stuff taken care of in my first post.

I have a move coming up in a little over a month and this just is an added annoyance after having the boss in the transmission go south. The car is in really good condition and if I didn't like the car so much, I would be half tempted to sell it off or chop it to parts and sell it off. Apologies, that annoyance is coming through again.

In the end, I will get it fixed (properly) and be happy that it is.

I feel your pain. One of mine is gone too.
Definitely switch to Wevo mounts. Far superior.
On mine I'll have to cut the fuel pump bracket out of the way, put in new mounts and then re-weld Fuel pump....all while trying not to catch it on fire...

Could have been worse, much cheaper to redo your sway bar mounts than other unforeseen repairs.

Same thing happened to me last year. Had both bushings replaced and re-welded. I believe$600....don't know any welders!

I just had the Wevos installed in my car last week. Parts cost me about, $300? Labor was another couple hundred.

I bought the wevo mounts, which I think were $85 a piece. New brackets, bushings, new connecting arms and the little plastic bushings for those, and another set of bushings for near the connecting arms. Mine is a '77, my setup is different from newer Porsches. Not sure how much it will cost you.

I really like the handling and not making a ton of noise when I go over bumps!
