Question on COA
Hello everyone,
After much searching for the original engine number for my '73 911T, I have now opted to pay the $118.00 for a COA to try to get the information that way. (The engine was removed several years ago). I downloaded the fax form and upon reading the order details I noticed that the form (now) doesn't specify they will provide the original engine and transmission numbers. I could swear when I looked at the form prior it stated they will provide that information. Have any of you had recent experience with this issue? Thanks to you all and of course Pelican! |

I got my COA on my 930 a few months ago and it has the engine and trans #'s listed on it. However, since my car is an 88, I understand they kept better records as time went on, so just because they had it for mine wouldn't guarantee how detailed the build info they have for a 73 is. Hopefully owners with cars around your vintage can chime in with their experiences.

You can also call 1-800-PORSCHE, option 5, with questions. I spoke with them before I ordered. Unfortunately they did not seem to keep very accurate information.
They should have the engine number. When it comes to transmission numbers, their information seems to be vague. They only seem to have a small range of serial numbers that it could be. I told them what serial number was on my transmission and then they were able to put it on the COA since it was in the proper range. They also don't know the MSRP, as that information was only from the Dealership that sold the car originally. Without the original window sticker from the Dealer, this will be left blank. There is the same problem with the Production date. You can get an idea of production date by looking at date codes on things like the instruments and rim dates. My gages show date stamps of 4/73 and 5/73, and the rims show 6/73. I had the compliance sticker in the door jam showing 7/73, but without the sticker they don't seem to know exactly.

I've ordered many COA's. The last was about 6 months ago. They all came with the trans. and engine number. It makes little sense to get one, if you can't verify originality. The earliest one was 65', the latest, 88'.

Hey guys, Thank you for the information. I'll try the 800 # at Porsche as well. I really appreciate your responses.
