Porsche 912 engine

I have an old porsche 912 engine that I inherited when my father passed away and I don't know what I want to do with it. He had intended to put it into his replica speedster kit car. I now own both the car and the engine. I'm not sure if I will keep the car or not. Is there anyone that knows enough about those engines to see if its worth while it keep it or just sell it.

Post this over on 912 BBS - Welcome to 912BBS
and you'll find there's some 912'ers down your way that'll be more than willing to help you determine what you've got.

They are certainly worth something. Just check out asking prices on Ebay, 356 Registry, Samba, etc. not to say everyone gets their price. I might be looking for a good complete core soon to build up for my 356A. The 912 engine has the better components compared to the early 356 engines. I don't know if they will increase in value but they will probably not get cheaper.

There is a pretty decent 912 forum here on Pelican as well.

Please let me know that the ID number as I'm in the Orlando area and somewhere in Centeral Florida is the motor to my 69 912 Soft Window Targa. If it starts with a 409xxxxx number is a 1969 year model motor

The engine number is 744746 which from what I've read would make it a 66'
