I need a lift!

Rolling around on the floor like a monkey humping a football has really lost it's appeal for me.... Must be an age thing.

Changed the smile today on the SC.
Whose idea was that fricken bracket that protects the oil cooler anyway?
One side of the smile is not making good contact with the top of the bumper. Any tricks to that? Alignment seems good.

Really not much of a job, but my loss of flexibility and the reduced speed of getting down to and up from the knees slowed down the job a bit.
Oh well, it was car time and nice to have a bit of garage therapy.

Crawling around on the floor under your car is so ghetto. I borrow the use of a friend's lift when I can.

good point, it is sort of ghetto, a creeper helps but not by much.

i'm in the halfway house - i have a midrise scissor lift. works well for everything i've done so far, only limitation is the height of the garage. saves the knees a lot, back too.

Four post lift. Stores your car and work on it.

This is what I am shooting for!
I am pretty sure that I am losing IQ points every time I get on my knees.
Wait a minute, not what I meant, but strangely fitting here.
Which lift did you get? I missed a used BendPac a few months ago in town. They don't turn up often used very often.

I just bought a Dannmar 4 post lift. It was delivered last week and sitting in my garage. Waiting to cox some motor head friend to help me install it. I'll let you know how it goes. So far, it fits perfectly and the quality looks pretty good.

i found one used on my local cl last year for $500, and for $50 he delivered it to my garage. 6k, 48" is limited by the ceiling. the brand name is benwil and while i have never heard of them it is extremely thick steel and very sturdy. i would put it up against any midrise on the market.

Lift

I just installed a Challenger lift. My garage has a 10 foot ceiling, but I was able to modify the ties (trusses are 8 ft apart) so I can get a 911 up to full height if I place it on the lift just right. I have a 997 on it today and can lift it to the max!

I have the MAXJAX and love it. I only have a 9' ceiling in the garage so my options were limited but the lift still lifts 45", no more using the creeper for me.

When I was looking, I really liked the Bendpak 2 post lift. Depends on the height of your ceilings in your garage for sure, but this is the one I liked.

+1 use it all the time. With the adapters you can get 50" of lift

I am a little hesitant to get a 4 poster.
I will tell you why, but don't tell my wife!!
She (the wifely unit) parks in the garage when it is cold outside. Garage is only 24x24. 9' ceiling height. I am really afraid that she will take out a leg on the lift on the way through the door!
That's why I am thinking about a scissor...

Bill

Doesn't matter which one you get, you'll love it.

With a Cab, no problem with the garage door opener... it fit right in

OK, finally installed my lift. It wasn't too difficult to install. Some stupid mistakes on my side, and some poor directions.

If anyone is interested in the Dannmar 4 post lift, I highly recommend it. It works and looks great. Here is a link to the build video Dailymotion - D-7 Automotive Lift Installation Demonstration - a Auto-Moto video

I installed it myself with the exception of putting in the runways. At about 300+ pounds a piece it was rather heavy. At first I was planning on using an engine hoist. But in the end I simply used 3 friends to help me. I only needed their assistance for about 45min max.

I'll take some pictures when I get a chance. I still have to reposition one of the rafter beams so I can put the car to full height.

If anyone is considering getting this and wants a little extra help on putting it together, email me. There are a few things that if I knew in advance it would have saved some time. All in, I probably spent about $2500 (including the lift, oil pans, wheels to move the lift, drip pans, ramps, transportation directly into my garage, and hydraulic oil).

I'll upload pictures soon.
