89 SC clutch Cable

Had the 911 out for a drive today, pushed in clutch to shift gears and pedal went to floorboard. Had it towed home and looked at it. I found that the pin through the clevis had sheared off. Do I have to remove attachment at helper spring or can I do repair with new pin and bushing?Appreciate the help. Thanks. It is getting tougher for my 63 year old body to lay under the dash.

Clutch pin

If you haven't already done so, now is a good time to do a rebuild on the pedal cluster. The only really irritating part of the job is the R&R on the clutch spring. Remove, disassemble, clean, paint and put in new bushings. You will be amazed at the difference in the pedal feel! Good luck!

I had put a clutch cable in a couple of years ago and it was a bear to work around the pedal area. It seems that it would be a good idea to pull the drivers seat to get a bit more room to move.
I wasn't smart enough to do that so I worked on my under dash yoga poses...

Did the pin shear or did the hole it goes in on the clutch pedal wear through?

+1 on pedal cluster rebuild plus new clutch cable and clevis.

If your car is an SC (not 89!!) and it has never been done, it's time.

Factory bushings were plastic, age is now more of a factor than mileage. Replaced with Bronze bushing kit from our host.

Remove the pedal assembly, assess the damage, purchase a set of o.e. PLASTIC bushings from the dealer, or other source, and disassemble the pedal cluster. You will probably have to buy a replacement clutch pedal shaft, because the clevis pin bushing probably wore out years ago, and now the pin has worn through where it attaches at the pedal shaft. Also, prepare to replace the clutch cable at the same time. CAUTION: Do not buy an after market cable, only use a factory replacement. The search button will find you a thread where I've mentioned this before.
