Drive it more, it runs better.
I don't usually drive my 68 very much, just short trips and once or twice a week as I don't quite trust it for longer stuff.
But the last couple of weeks it has been so nice out that I have been going for drives just for the heck of it, an hour or so just wandering thru the foothills seeing where roads go. And the car is running a LOT better, there's a lot less popping and spitting back thru the carbs, it seems to accelerate better, and of course the sound of the motor with all the windows down and running fast through the hills just reminds me of why I bought the car in the first place, to drive. It's easy to forget that most cars, and especially Porsches, seem to run better if they are used. So get out there for a drive.

Great looking car!!!!
I find mine is similar to my wife, the more attention you pay her the better she "runs". Enjoy your new baby. Kevin |

Yah my 73 S is the same way, drive it alot in stop and go traffic or just back roads with alot of intersections and stop signs, and it gets all fussy. Probably the spark plugs fouling a little. Redline it a couple of times on the highway and all is better

I agree ! I do a Everglades tour once a week often in triple digit speed (road virtually empty). Back at the ranch the black beast seems much happier.

Yep, my dad likes to run out to Laughlin in his '80... He ALWAYS says it runs much better after driving for over four hours.
I think it cleans out the carbon off the Pistons, and plugs. Of course some good Chevron gas does wonders too.

LOL, when I got my car about 1 year and 17,500 or so miles ago I thought a 35 year old car could never be driven this much. I drive it everywhere "Sure honey I'll run your errands for you" hehe. Seriously after having sat for 3 years I expected all kinds of trouble but I'vee only had to change the oil, do the valves once and change the rear brakes. I gave it a good tune up when I got it and it's lasted just fine. I run Sunoco 94 exclusively and by no means am I easy on it. Long live the P-car!

One thing you might want to consider if you have carbs is to take the jets(mainly the main jets) out and clean them. You can soak them in carb cleaner or the like and then blow filtered compressed air through it. Stick them back in and the car should run a little better if you haven't done that in a while.
The gas nowadays sucks! |

Great picture of that '68!
I've always believed that mine runs better after 2+ hours of continuous driving. Sometimes it kills be to put her back under the cover in the garage. Enjoy the road ![]()

If driving it more makes it run better, than here I am giving my car a tune-up:
