Convert 78 US 8.5:1 3.0L to Euro Spec 9.8:1, exactly what is needed?
I know I need Euro 9.8:1 piston/ring set but i'm being told the 78 FD is the same as the Euro FD (minus the metal lines), and the heads are the same (big port). I don't want to do a half-arsed conversion if I decide to do it. I will run a blend of 93 and 100 octane, this is a track-only car. Please don't say "you need the euro distributor" or similar without explaining the differences between the two, I want to learn here.
I believe I have a source for the new P&C set . Thanks for any help.

You'll need the Euro WUR too, as that's the real key toward getting more fuel into the engine.
Naturally, setting the CO will be critical to get decent AFR's.

Us & row
Since this is a track car with new P/Cs, are you considering a 10:1 plus motor with dual plugs since you are considering changes to the distributor anyway? If you are staying CIS, I can PM you about a complete used 76 C3 CIS that I was looking at buying. Probably more of the big valve ROW CIS you are probably looking to acquire. Larry at CIS Flow Tech is a great CIS resource that may also be helpful. Sound like a fun project. Best of Luck.

Are the fuel injectors any different? I see Euro and US for sale on Rarly's site (contacted him for WUR and FD info as I run his beautiful headers)...

Spec Car for Class Racing
Spec car, my bad. The 76/77 C3 used CIS should be the same as the 78/79 ROW but it was a "complete unit" with FD & WUR that probably needed rebuilding. I was looking at it for my C3 motor project.
