Likely a fuel pump or lack of adequate pressure. Got gauges and a manual?

Got gas in the tank?

Does it fire up and die or just no start? If just no start you have a fuel delivery issue! If it fires and dies it is Vacuum Leaks!

it has gas in the tank. it will run as long as i spray the starter fluid then dies when i stop
should i hear the fuel pump humming or some thing when ignition is on i ran a hot wire to it and it sounds like it pumps then. I replace the pump the filter and the relay could it be the accumalator

CIS, fuel pump runs when cranking, running or when the flapper valve inside the box is lifted.

Try lifting the AFR plate with the key on and see if you hear the wine of the injectors. Dont hold it for very long! Then try to start it normal, if it fires it is probably the Fuel Accumulator.

If you don't hear a wine with the plate lifted you probably don't have fuel pressure.

Your cold start injector should be firing fuel into the air box so my guess is no fuel/pressure!

PS: Don't keep spraying starter fluid, you might blow your air box!

How old is the gas?

Do not spray starter fluid in the air box. It will crack....

"One should check for proper fuel delivery and fuel pressure by removing the air filter and reaching inside the airbox and lift the lever under the plate (3" diameter plate which has an adjustment for the resting gap.)
Hopefully you would have updated your air-box with the toilet bowl pop off valve to protect against blowing up the airbox due to backfire from incorrect fuel air mixture/timing."

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

Uh, post 4 for new filter.
Swap the red fuel pump relay for a black one from the horn and see what happens.

Fuse in the fuse panel? Check power to the fuse.....if you have 12v, check fuse for corrosion and power out. You may have to use a 'noid light and crank the engine.

Pull and replace it anyways....run power to the pump to see if it fires up.

Stop replacing parts and do a little troubleshooting. We'll all help you.
You said you ran a hot wire to the pump and thought you heard it running?

The proper way to test is to remove the relay and place a jumper in the socket holes corresponding to pins 30 and 87A and then turn the ignition to run.
First see if there is power at the 87A socket with the ignition in run. If not then it could be a fuse or a loose wire.

If there is power and the jumper trick works then I would suspect the air meter safety switch isn't working or is unplugged. It's behind the metering plate. I could tell you how to bypass that device easily as another test, but do the testing above first and report back.

Is there a DME relay under one of your seats?

DME, I believe it does, what does your manual say?
Download the manual from CannelUk do a google search for the PDF should have the wiring diagrams if you don't have a Bently.
Troubleshooting without the manual is like sticking your finger in a socket to see if it has power...
