urgent issue in west orange NJ

Hi I have a clutch cable about to snap.
the shift arm is one that bends the cable 90 degrees and snaps every once in a while.
I have a trusted mechanic in connecticut but I don't think I will make it that far on the few remaining threads left.
is there a mechanic in this area 07052 that I can trust in a pinch?

Do you have AAA, Dan's shop is almost exactly 100 miles from West Orange. The NJ guys should be able to help you out, Gene at ******** in Chatham is 45 minutes the other direction.

30 years ago, my father went to European Technicians on Lackawana Pl in South Orange. I'm not sure if they're amazing, but what you need doesn't sound like rocket science, so they should probably be able to help out.

If they don't work, Gene isn't in Chatham anymore - he moved out to Peapack, which is about 45 mins west of West Orange. FWIW, I trust Gene.

Not to hijack a thread, but just a question. Does anyone know why A.u.t.o.h.a.u.s. is a bad word on Pelican?

There is another company by the same name that is a parts supplier/competitor to Pelican

Try calling Euro Motors at Garwood/Cranford. It's about 15 miles from West Orange. Take Parkway South exit on 137 Roselle/Cranford and about 2 miles you will see Euro Motors. That is where my cousin and I bring our PCars for our regular maintenance including clutch replacement. Look for Vic. Hope this helps.

Hard to tell from the pic, but is the cable really that bad? How long has it been like that?

Just changedoit. I know it didn't look bad but all the cables internally were broken.
Only 5 strands left.
Went to a utohaus spoke to Gene and he let me do it myself! Cool guy.
We switched to the different lever am without the turn needed in the cable.

It only went about a week,
as soon as I hear the first cable give with a loud snapping sound the rest go pretty quickly,
It's usually a race against time to get the new one on.
with the change to the different lever arm that should put an end to snapping cables
I have replaced that cable 7 times at least since 2004!
