How to mount optima in 82SC?
The PO had a leaky lead acid which left several rusty areas including a hole in the inner fender. I have an extra Optima Red Top from my other car but sure cant figure a way to secure it in the original tray. The smugglers box is not an option. Any BTDT?

I went with the chopping board method. Works well. Should be a couple threads and plans in the forums.

that's what i did, only with a different battery. much smaller and imho the quality of optima has severely declined over the last few years.
another battery install thread

+1 for the cutting board. Cheap and easy to make.

I just made .5" plywood platform attached to my optimia battery with bolts and used the OEM plate/bolt to affix the battery in place. Works for both my '72 and SC. YMMV
