911sc clatter at low revs
Hope someone can help. I am in south of France and have to get home to England on sunday. 911Sc has developed a loud clattering up to 2200 rpm. After that seems ok. Can drive her back? No loss of power and all pressures fine. What else can I add to help diagnosis?

Has it got the Carrera chain tensioners or not? Post a pic of your engine if unsure.

More than normal? The 930-10 ROW with forged pistons does clatter at idle and just above...that's normal.

It's a 911 Carrera RS replica and yes it is more than normal . Started 40 miles ago.

It's clattering as you are driving now?

I share your concern about damage from driving the car another 400 miles. Timing chain issues can cause some expensive damage if left unattended. Any friends you can call for help? Good luck and report the findings when you can.

I would be very cautious, especially if related to the chains - it could get expensive very fast.
Also, I understand this is engine-related, however, could this possibly be a sympathetic vibration from a muffler, heat shield, etc.? Can you get under the car and check this out?

Low loader back to UK. Timing chain problem. Thanks for support...didn't want to risk it.

Those were probably the most "worth-it" first 5 posts I've ever seen on here.
Good luck ![]()
