Jack Stand Placement

Now I know you are going to read the subject and tell me to do a search on it (which I did), but I am still unclear as to where to lift the front of the car from and where to place stands in the front, once the rear is in the air.

I placed my fronts at the point where the sheetmetal "seam" starts curving in toward the middle of the car. Your jackstands have indentations that allow them to straddle this weld flange without crushing it. This has been a good secure location for dozens of hours of work for me, and affords access to the front end without obstruction.

Same here, that is the exact place I put my jackstands on the front.

To get the maximum height, I suggest jacking the car with a floor jack (half a phone book resting on the plate) at that seam and placing the jack stand at the front of the A-Arm. The top of the jack stand is curved the right amount to cradle the front of the A-Arm (or torsion tube). This is just behins your "tow hooks" which are really just "I'm happy they are there when my friend bottoms out the front end of the car hooks"
