Griots makes an excellent rubber/trim restore product, I use it a lot.

Others have recommended Mothers "Back to Black" and said that vaseline on black parts (other than Fuchs) can be bad because it can dry it out. That being said, I put vaseline on my bumperettes and front bumper smile and it looks great!

I had very good results on restoring all the ruber on a 72 9111T with rubbing it with paint thinner. Has anybody ever done that?

Most products mentioned so far are dressings, which are all fine but what really makes the difference is cleaning the rubber first. Use Griot's Garage Rubber Prep. You won't believe how well (and how easily) it cleans the rubber and prepares it for the dressing.

I don't like to use Vaseline. The market is full of products designed for this that are as good as, or better, and are far less messy. Two of the best I've ever tried are Duragloss 271 and Zaino Z-16.

I would recommend isopropyl alcohol rather than paint thinner. I know a number of pro detailer who use it.

You're going to get many different responses and I'm sure there are lots of products that work well. This is what works for me: I use this Einszett product from our host: Pelican Parts.com - 1Z Vinyl/Rubber Care (Tiefenpfleger)

When I got my car four years ago all the black trim was faded. It took a number of applications, but this product restored it all very well. Leaves a nice satin finish. It lasts pretty long, but I stay on top of it now, so it goes on nice and easy and keeps all the black trim in great condition for me.

Paul

Edit: For the bellows, I got some small foam applicators to get into the cracks. Takes extra time, but it's worth it.

This Stuff

The rubber on my car was dry and white...I used this stuff and it literally brought everything back to "life". After initial heavy application all the dried out rubber cells wipe away and it really only gets better with more light applications.

ive found that a couple of the "make it black" products Ive used look OK till it rains - which is like 1/2 a day in Seattle

the one I like the best - non-streaky looking, makes em look fresh, clean and lasts even after lots of rain and road grime is Zaino Perfect Tire - works on the lip and smile too

Yes. Lacquer thinner soaked rag gets the white/grey oxidation off. Then your favorite black polish.
