That is going to be a serious Hot Rod.

LT-1 vintage rollers....LOL

Etham 06-13-2013 05:20 AM

I'm considering doing something similar. I want to make a rest-mod classic, but not really sure where to start. A carcass like this might be a way to go.

Are these things still findable?

Holy S#it ... I thought Brislanes project was insane http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/469498-what-i-found-scrap-yard.html

You make that one look like like nothing, yours is more like the Alan UK restoration of the S that had been in a fire Canford Classics - Classic Porsche Restoration & Parts Refurbishment

... Sub'd

I think we can summarise this as "guy buys a VIN number for $500, and builds a car from it". Awesome!

andybullen 06-13-2013 10:09 AM

from scratch!

I'm with Giovanni.

As far as these "saving" stories go, you win!

Fantastic

Great save, nice skill. Given the ridiculous costs of the flat 6 replacements and repairs, a swap to anything else makes perfect sense. Not sure why people get all butt hurt - just think of it as increasing the value of the flat 6 you have in your stable and chilllllllllll out.

wayner 06-14-2013 07:47 AM

I'm with Andrew

Your car, Do what you want.

Congrats on having the guts to dig in. I love my 3.2 six but I also love the scream of a 350 HP chevy V8. Good luck finishing the project.

Stock heads and cam in the ls1 ?

IllustriousIron 06-14-2013 02:35 PM

Nothing against the flat 6 but the LS just makes much more sense. They are lighter, better on gas, more reliable, much cheeper and easier to maintain, and what we charge to do the swap is on point with the cost of having a reputable shop rebuild your flat 6. The ONLY cutting we do on the car is the opening you see in the front panel. Its very easily replaced and is most likely mangled in one way or another anyway.

This particular car will be a bone stock LS1 with a mild exhaust and a good tune. However we where recently involved in building another 930 for this customer that with the help of a little boost will put down a few more pony's.
