Roll Bar Recommendations ???

Ok, I really need to put front and rear roll bars on the Beast. I have checked out SmartRacing's and they appear to be ov very high quality but are also a little spendy. Are there any other options that are a good bang for the buck?

I put the Autopower bar with removable cross brace and harness bar in my 78SC. Bolt in but you have to drill through the floor pan and engie fire wall. Well constructed and relatively inexpensive. They are available here in San Diego.

Roll bar or anti-roll bar - aka "sway" bar.

Never heard of 'front and rear roll bars'

Sorry I thought you meant front and rear roll bar as in "full cage roll bar."

Sorry for the confusion. I am referring to anti-sway bars.

IMO, it makes sense to go with cheaper (Weltmeister) in front, and better (SmartRacing) in back. It's a simple piece, but the Weltmeister rears are not a very good design.

Thanks Jack. I think I need to determine the impact of having the G50 too. I might have a clearence problem with the bottom of the tranny. A straight bar might not work?

Jack, on both of my cars the 'square hole' in the weltmeister front bars have loosened up to the point where they can not be fixed. If it is for a heavily used track car, I would probably want to look at a different bar for the front also.

I snapped an AJ-USA one up front twice. Maybe TRG or Smart Racing or the like is the only smart way to go.

Time out,

We are talking about Mark I built-my-car-and-engine-from-the-ground-up-slapped-a-G50-in-it-still-working-on-the- Electro-Pnematic-Sequential-Shifter Hargett here.

Mark, go down to Home Depot, pick yourself up some 1" black gas pipe and whip yourself up a set of sway bars.

Tom
(Joking, but without a doubt that Mark coud do it)

Mark, I have an '87 with a G-50 tanny and the SRP bars work like a champ. I have them front and rear and they are wonderful. Good luck

Cheers, James
