79sc 3.0 engine locked up

engine locked up cant pop start it or turn it over with socket on fan pulley any ideas or thoughts would be great there was a strange sound coming out of the right cylinder head area that sounded like a exhaust leak days before any ways a bet the motor has to come out ?

lock up

just got done talking to friend of mine hes seen it where the starter sometimes jamms the fly wheel up anybody else ever hear of this thanks guys

pull the starter and see if it will turn over after it is out...i could see that happening if one of the teeth on either has been damaged...if it was an exhaust leak or head gasket...i think it would turn over just wouldnt run...

starter pulled

well took starter off still locked up tight, man the thing showed no signs of bad running good idle doesnt leak or burn a drop of oil i'm really bummed just put my new sparco seat in and rebuilt rear suspension ER STUFF time for a engine drop i guess any suggestions would be great

Cam sprocket on the noisy side is where I would start.
