The dark side beckoned. I traded this...

...for this.

Nice. On my bucket list for sure. At some point I want to get a ride. Never been in one.

I wonder what it would look like with a black or greay GT3 stripe?

I had my 1st ride in a GT3 on the track at AMP last month (instructor was driving). The GT3 was like a big panther; it never put a foot wrong. I got car sick.

Jack,
I had the good fortune a few years ago to take a lap at Daytona in a 2007 GT3. It was pumpkin orange and now I want that exact car. I would not have hesitated to make the same trade for both my '84 911 and my '67 Shelby Cobra replica...that is an awesome machine, enjoy it...I'm extremely jealous...

Mike...

My brother, who also owned the blue '87 a few years back, thinks I'm an idiot for trading cars. He agrees with you that the GT3 would look better with black stripes.

Before the car arrived I planned to remove the stripes altogether but it looks better in person than I expected. They look OK with the red seat belts and calipers, so I'll leave the red stripes in place for now. If I ever replace them, I'd probably go with black.

Aw, man... That was one sweet '87! It was an acceptable trade but I sure hate to see that 87 go! I hope to went to a good home.

I would make that same trade in a heartbeat.

I do indeed lust for a white GT3. If the right deal came along I would jump all over that.

The '87 went to a GREAT home. This was a "buddy trade" with a long time (40+ years) very good friend whose other current Porsche is a pristine Tangerine 1970 914-6.

I couldn't have asked for a better caretaker and hope he feels the same about me.

Weren't you contemplating this trade a few months ago? Regardless, it seems like a good deal. I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing. Have fun!

Yep, the trade took awhile to consummate due to some unforeseen circumstances that developed on my end. It was definitely worth the wait, though.

Nope, it wasn't a straight trade.

Not that my opinion matters but I would have to really think hard about NOT doing the deal. I dig the 87 and followed as it was built but that GT3 is in a whole 'nother world.

I really have the itch to move up to the watercooled cars.

You'll really miss that 87 until you step on the gas on that GT3
Those motors are so cool
