CV Reassembly - Do Orientations Matter?

I have dissasembled one end of one of my CV joints (pictures here). Does the angle at which I put the joint back onto the shaft matter? What about the angle at which I bolt the joints onto the transmission and wheel?

I only took one half axle off, and only removed one of the boots, so there is no confusion about which joint is on which end.

I see there are marks on the gear-shaped inner piece, as well as on the end of the axle. But everything looks symmetrical.
