Newbie not so new since......
Hi,
I think I have lost some of my newbie tendancies since this last weekend which I am very pleased about so here's a quick update on my car!!!!!! Background - about 3 months ago the car started running hotter than normal and at one point during a drive it reached 250!!!!!! So with useful advice from you guys, and after getting great help from a fellow Pelicanhead back home in England (AlanUK - cheers), I decided to strip out the fan + cooling ducts etc. To my shock I found an almighty amount of ****e covering my engine and in between all the fins so that no air could flow through the engine. With the aid of some hoovers, a lot of patience and a few smart remarks from neighbours I cleaned it up - you wouldn't believe what I found in there!!! I also took the time to do some highlighting and general cleaning before re-assembly this weekend. Result - to my utter surprise the 70T started and after a 50 mile drive the temp got to around 190 - pretty good don't you think? Also, the engine now looks a little cleaner although by no means prefect but at least it looks like someone actually cares!!!!!! Next purchase should really be a drip tray to prevent this happening again. So I think I have lost some newbie tendancies and am more comfortable getting down and dirty with a 32 year old!!!!!! Next thing is to figure out how to wire my fog lamps in - they are attached to the car, but the live wire (I assume) connecting them together is not wired in - should I wire it straight to the fuse box or piggyback the headlights? Anyway - cheers for the help and suport - at least I may be able to answer questions on fans + alternatirs now (BTW it took me almost a day to remove the fan the first time since I didn't know about the ground strap!!!!!). Cheers - and here's a not so good picture of the car (not sure how to attach but here goes nothing). Gareth

Congratulations on your successful weekend. Before you know it you'll be stripping the engine and rebuilding the gearbox_grin.
The car looks great in the pic and that looks like a rather nice good old english country pub. Cheers Alan.UK |
