Bump Steer help needed-
I'm under the car and get everything loosened up and lo & behold, it looks like I already have a bump steer kit installed.
Unless the steering rack for a 1974 has spacers???? Not sure what to do now. Car was lowered and drove ok until I installed the turbo tie rod kit. After the alignment I noticed that the steering wheel would jump everytime I hit a bump. I ordered a bump steer kit thinking that the rack needed to be raised back to the normal position. Is it possible that the alignment guys brought the car back to original ride height and with the bump steer kit it made the rack too high and created bump steer that way.....help!

What's the measurement from fender to ground? Are you running standard size wheel and tires? Alignment settings (particularly caster) will make a big difference on this. With my car, we (TRE Motorsports) added both the spacers (which only correct for a very small amount of the geometry shift) and also tie rod drop links, which make a very big difference. With 7 degrees of caster (modified upper strut mounts to accomplish this), and the spacers and drop links, the steering is phenomenal.

I can't tell you what the measurement from fender to ground is at this moment as the car is still on jackstands waiting to get this sorted out. I do have 16X6 Fuchs with 205/55 on the front. Not sure whether to add the other spacers to the exsisting ones and see what happens or not??

Ok, after not hearing any quick answers I opted to replace the exsisting spacers with the new ones from the Bump steer kit. The new spacers were about1/3rd thinner than the ones on the car. While it drives considerably better it still doesn't feel as tight as I would like it.
Any suggestions?

are the tie rods parallel to the ground?
if they rise towards the wheels then i think the drop links may work-thats what i'm going for.
