Parts Heaven is awesome in my experience, Oklahoma foreign good, L.A.P.D. not so great. You have to really do some homework on this stuff- I suspect that some guys think they are getting a good deal without knowing what's really out there. I'm a bargain hunter but not a cheapskate- I sometimes pay high-dollar, but only after exhausting other options.

MIK911 08-24-2001 10:55 PM

Anyone have the phone # or website address of LAPD? Anyone with experience dealing with them?

speeder 08-25-2001 01:45 AM

I do not have L.A.P.D. phone number handy but it should be listed under "KAOS" auto parts in Sun Valley, CA.(818 area code). I have personally been jerked around by "Todd" at this place which I am almost certain is AKA L.A.P.D. Another place to avoid like the clap is "Roadrace" in L.A.; a guy with tons of early parts but prices that are marked up beyond belief. A scumbag.

At least it used to be there...don't know what happened to their website now, though.

I have purchased numerous parts from them recently and have yet to receive at least 4 of 9 items and it has been 5 weeks. Sent them numerous emails and have had several phone calls. Each time I was assured that the parts would be shipped immediatley, still waiting. . .Looks like I will have to go thru Ebay for a refund.

I took a guess that there would be a thread on pelican regarding them and I was right. Looking at their feedback on ebay, the people who bought one part generally receive it. The people who order multiple parts seem to encounter trouble. . And the tone seems to be the same, a bunch of excuses. .

I hate flaming people but this is just a little too ridiculous.

Anyway, just thought I would send out a warning on them. .

I echo Alan's experience. Mine is exactly the same.

Took forever to get my parts on e-bay from them. They messed up my order numerous times, but were good enough to send a refund in the end (2 months). Too much work to get parts from them. With all of the aggravation I went through with them last go around, they did not even offer to ship the returned parts for free when they made the mistake. Never again.

I've had good experiences with Parts Werks. They're courteous and helpful, fair priced, too. No worries.

I'm in the process of completing a 3 month old eBay transaction with them. This was perhaps my third transaction over the last couple of years, all on eBay. I had no issue until now.

I'll spare you the details, but I only received one of the four items I ordered/won this time. My PayPal payment for the lot was sent on 17 Jan 03. It has taken this long, and the items are suposedly in the mail now.

The main problem with their eBay program is that they only have one person running the show. When she is out of the office, sick, or whatever, you're suckin'. She has been out lately, and you can tell from the significant increase in negative feedback over the last couple of months.

She has admitted that this is a problem for them, but hasn't indicated to me that they've done anything about it.

So, I'm not recommending not buying from them, just be very wary of their eBay operation.

Myself and 2 of my friends have bought stuff from PartWerks.
Case #1: Though they charged my credit card right away, it took weeks of calls before they sent me a horrible boat anchor of a motor which I sent back with some hassles. They couldn't refund my money until they got their money back. It turned out that they didn't really have the motor in the 1st place...
Case #2: They sent friend #1 a defective CD box and wouldn't refund his money. I don't know if they ever sent him his other stuff.
Case #3: They sent friend #2 an oil line that turned out to be a non-fitting replica which he sent back.

Once we started comparing notes it became apparent that PW was in no rush to send parts out and when we called to check on our order we were told "Oh, I didn't realize you needed that right away." (Like we had ordered expecting to wait a few weeks...)

They are very slow shippers... you have to ping them every day to get your parts........ Overall they Suck

Well i used ebay for the first time and won an auction from partwerks for a front lip spoiler and mounting kit. Its been 2 weeks and i got zippo from them. I have sent emails and basically got the same reply that consisted of a lot of hot air and no susbstance other then "its in the mail" I could have walked the part from Chicago to Philly in two weeks. Then of course they have the same auction up on ebay and the bid is already 22 bucks more then i paid. So, the jury is still out, i am getting skeptical about whether i will ever see my part. I guess it kind of too good to be true to get the actual factory part way way below everyone elses price, without a hassel. My experience tells me i dont really need to deal with these guys again.

Like Thom (widebody911) says on this list once in a while:
"They would have to improve to just suck."

I recently received a shipment from them last week - it arrived quickly, well packaged, and the accurate. They were courteous on the phone, and their prices are great.

I guess it is hit and miss with them. I kind of feel like they are like the soup Nazi on Seinfeld. No part for me! :)

I just received a refund from them for an eBay auction that ended back in February. They shipped the wrong part. I returned it with the promise of an exchange but received nothing back. No reply to my emails. I ran out of patience and reported the situation to eBay. My money was refunded two days later.

gary-o 04-21-2003 12:03 PM

Bottom line....if you want a new piece for your P-Car, buy what you can from our host, after all, they are our "reason" for being here.....and their track record is impressive.
Gary.

GeorgeM 04-22-2003 07:55 AM

Okay,

I just received the promised box of stuff they owed me... minus one of the parts, fortunately the cheapest one ($10).

I wrote them and told them to forget it.

I did hear back from them with another apology. Their response to my "forget it" was that "they're not in the business of taking money for parts we did not ship." So I suppose the last part is on the way.

I think I'm done with Partwerks.

206aa 04-22-2003 08:54 AM

Just received the rest of my order too. 7 weeks after I placed it. I am definetly done with Partswerks. It just isn't worth the grief to deal with them. But that is just my 2 cents. .

I have bought numerous Porsche parts from them via Ebay and never had a problem. They were always very nice and the sales went smoothly.
