Me too Dave. Also 87 Carrera. What did you find? I want simple clean look, not gaudy bright colored displays. Also, can Forum please advise how to diagnose the amplifier/booster that the windshield antenna plugs into? My tuner reception has always been poor. I'd like to prove/disprove this part needs to be replaced.

Try crimping the two connections on the passenger side where the windshield antenna goes.
