HI. Umm, there is no way you are going to be able to torque an 8mm allen socket head bolt to 61 ft lbs... I think this value has been posted in error- my book says 31 or 34 ft lbs for 8mm bolts, and the much higher value is for the CV joints with the larger, 10mm bolts.

60 ft/lbs (83NM) is the correct spec for this application as they use hardened higher grade bolts.

Don't get confused by the socket head allen size and the bolt size. Go by the bolt size. The axle bolts tend to be all high grade. I torque the 8mm bolt size to 35 and the 10mm bolts to 55. Never had any come loose.

I tend to refer to factory specs books which list the bolt size and torque specs. This should avoid all confusion.

Just remember that is a dry spec. Another member recently had an issue because he was adding thread lock and didn't reduce the torque to compensate for the fact that the fastener was now wet.
