Did 1969/912 all have front sway bars?
I have a very low mileage 69/912. Someone started installation of after market front sway bar. I am removing it. But did the 69/912 even have a factory front bar. I would prefer to leave it off if that is possible correct?

69 would have the through the body sway bar with drop links. Look on the A arm inboard of the ball joint on top. If you find a U shaped bracket with holes then the car had factory front sway bar. There would also be a triangular plate with 3 bolts holding it to the inside wheel well. Sway bar passes through this plate and rubber bushing. If none of this is present your car didn't have the bar. I think it was an option on the 912 and I think also on the 911T. I had a 66 912 when I was in the Navy in Spain in the late 60's. No speed limits. I drove the wheels off that poor car. I wish I still had it. They are fun cars. Enjoy.

The sway bar was an option but the A-arm fitting was provided for in the 69, even if it wasn't delivered with the sway bar option.

Perfect, I will remove after market and put it to stock. Non option sway bar.
By the way it is OSSI BLUE! Great color, 22,700 miles Thanks, Stephen Retrotech: Classic and vintage Porsche cars, accessories and Porsche partshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1369861516.jpg |
Like ossiblue said by '69 it was an option even though all a-arms had the u-tabs.
Earlier it was standard equipment, like on my '67. I think '68 was the last year it was standard but would need to look it up. I would be interested in the bar once you remove it. Also, only a COA would tell you if your car was optioned with one. If it was, and you would like to install a stock factory one, I have one that I would offer as partial trade towards the purchase of your aftermarket one. |
I won't being doing a COA, But I could be interested in trade+ if you have every little bushing, spacer, nut & bolt from original. E mail me at retro356@gorge.net

WOW!! What a beautiful car! Love that color.
The wheel pads are so the floor doesnt get the tires dirty? :) |
The 912 if optioned with a front sway was likely the 13mm not the 15mm.
That is if I recall correctly.. |
