2.7 Engine Noise

Weird. Looks like some screw has worked its way loose. Notice the flame. I want to use the car this weekend. Can i temporarily stick any screw that fits in there before getting the right part? Is there a concern with the screw going too deep?

Nice light show, that cannot be good.

I have no idea, but will give you a free BUMP.

Now I have one more thing to look out for.:(

One of you plugs for secondary air injection ports blew out. Pelican has them under PEL-BRC-02 Porsche 911 & Turbo CIS Fuel Injection - Page 13

Air injection port in exhaust outlet, put a screw back in!

NeedSpace 05-30-2013 04:54 PM

SWEET! Thanks for the help. And only $3! Can I put something temporary in there for my weekend trip? Any concerns about going deep with the screw?

Interesting so is it a set screw? Air injection port that leads to combustion chamber ?

I got this response on another thread

Useless indeed....these cars originally had an air injection system/pump, in order to limits te the air injection you would cap the heads where the injector attached.

Most have removed the plumbing ! Part 15 is now a short screw plug

It's a metric plug. You should be able to find one at a well stocked hardware or auto parts store.

Fantastic, you guys are the best. I tried some screws that are laying around to no avail. I'll get a range of plugs tomorrow and hope for the best.

BTW, the other plug are a square fitting. How annoying are those to take out?!?

Small spanner , take one bolt out and take to the hardware store.

I believe a 12 point socket will work on a square head.

NeedSpace 05-30-2013 07:47 PM

No luck. I tried a number of different ones. They aren't in clean perfectly square shape to begin with, couldn't get a good grip. I'll get an array of bolts and hope for the best. Wish me luck.

Try M8x20mm

NeedSpace 05-31-2013 06:03 AM

Tazzie, thanks for the help. Really appreciate it.

If it is M8 I'll have a problem. I tried an M8 and an M10 last night. M10 too big, M8 Just too small. I hope this doesn't mean the threads have been stripped. I may have to retap the hole.

kodioneill 05-31-2013 06:42 AM

It's a strange size. I couldn't find anything that would fit at the hardware store. I believe the plug that PP sells also fits a 914 brake caliper allen bolt adjustment port.

Flat6pac 05-31-2013 09:23 AM

10mm fine thread, get it at Lowes

Flat6pac, thanks for the reference. That is exactly what I got...well, honestly, I bought a range of sizes just in case, turns out it was M10 x 1.25 x 20. It fit perfectly. Tightened it up and took the car for a spin. Nice and quiet, drove like a charm. Thanks again for the help! I purchased the original parts from PP but this will do for now.

There it is on the right.
