Emergency! 3.6 converted careers won't turn over in boonies!

Hey, I just drove my new to me 88 carerra with 95 3.6 conversion from Philly to NC. I stopped to pee and it won't start! If you turn key lights come on but no turnover--not even a bit.

Any emergency tips? I am stuck and 7 hours from home!

How's the battery ?
Check to see if the alternator belt is tight ... i guess without a voltmeter and basic tools there's not too much you can do.Perhaps try to get a push start and see if that works ...

I'm sure someone else will chime in with helpful advice !

Cheers
Phil

Neutral safety switch? Clutch safety switch?

Whack the solenoid with a BFH......call the previous owner and ask WTF?

Check battery connections.....long drive w/o AAA?

EDIT: Yes hot start.....if you wait an hour it maight start.....whacking the solenoid frees it up.....

Could be an overheated starter solenoid. This happened to me last summer. I was able to push-start the car. Later, when it cooled off, it started fine.

That issue is known as a heat-soaked starter. Good luck and I hope you get home safe soon!

Fuel pump relay?

Easy fix! Stupid battery cable had corroded through. Took everything apart and cleaned it. Jump started good as new.

Thanks guys!
