1989 491 Wide Body with slats??? Possible??
47 years of P cars I've not heard of this. COA says "Cooling Slats"
Possible? Phony COA? Or have I been living under a rock?

Possible for sure. I think the slats were part of the m505 (slant nose) package, but it wouldnt be unheard of for someone to order them on another widebody.

What are you asking? If they were a factory option at all, or an option for your year/model?
The first answer is yes, many cars have those. Second answer is also yes. |

Slats
I was asking both questions more or less.
Perhaps a lot of cars had them but most were phony slant nose cars. I've never seen a 491 with them but I guess they were an obtainable option. |

The way I've understood it is they were "S" slantnose cars, with the slantnose delete option. So I guess it would technically be a 505, not a 491? Of course, if it's not a turbo, then perhaps there was an option to add the slats to a 491? Not sure. They do show up (original) though.

COA says 491. I'm just not sure how to price this car for sale since it is obviously a rare option and since it does not have the slope it looks great. I just wanted to validate the fact that this was a real option. Thanks to you guys I accomplished that.

Do you have additional pictures of the slats on this 491 Carrera?

Is there an under-hood option sticker that shows all the options?

My 88 turbo has slats, but no slope nose... Seems common.

I would not be surprised that it is factory made. Everything is possible with Porsche... Could you provide a picture of the option sticker ?

The slantnose delete package would usually have the boxed rockers too.
Are these welded in or screwed/bolted in? For an 89 if they are a factory part they will be screwed or bolted in. The aftermarket units are welded in 1 piece.
