New Guards Red Carrera
Hi Folks,
I have been looking around for about a year for 'my schoolboy dream' and found one in the UK which I imported here to Australia.. It is an '88 3.2 Carrera in Guards Red and it was stock standard. I am enjoying learning from the forums and can't wait to upgrade to some ER suspension gear over the next year (thanks to Craig D for his tutorial!). I have already changed to a M&K muffler and a Steve Wong chip, oh and satin black wheels, and love the sound and added grunt.. I look forward to being a part of Pelican and maybe I can repay the knowledge further down the track... George ![]() ![]() ![]()

Great looking 911. Those blacked out wheels really set off the red color.

Thanks guys.. tuchan: All up it cost $7k.. That was door to door and registering the car cost $800.. I bought it unseen and it has exceeded expectations. Just a few more mods and I'll have the sexiest go-cart in Perth..!! I intend to keep her as original as I can (not the wheels though).. Cheers, George..

Is the dirt reddish brown everywhere in WA? I remember years ago working in Broome - red dirt as far as you could see. Must be the iron ore?

How is it for rust, not just bodywork, mbut enteral corrosion on suspension, exhaust, that sort of thing? This is the thing that has stopped me from pulling the trigger on a uk car.

Hey Coastr,
It is very good for rust in general. The front and rear suspension have surface rust and could do with powdercoating or plating but I was going to uopgrade to some Elephant gear anyway. The floor pan is nice and clean along with the wheel arches and bowls etc. The front and rear bumpers require a respray to tidy them up but otherwise the bodywork is awesome. The condition has exceeded expectations but there was an element of luck in there somewhere..! All together the process was pain free and did not throw up any unforeseens. There were lots of sleepless nights and worry/anxiety with the whole purchase, shipping and registering the car though. I am glad it is over!!
