Any Pics of 74-89s with bellows gone and bumpers pushed in?

If there are no pics of cars which have been done, can some one eliminate the bellows and push the bumpers in to where the bellows would have been, eliminating the black fill strip between the front trunk and the bumper?

This means the bumper shocks are gone along with the 5 mph impact protection, but oh well.

Do a search. There is at least one thread tracking such a project, with pics.

There is one I recall wherein the bumper was pushed in but with bellows. It is at the Official modified bumpers thread page 6 post 107.

The official modified bumpers thread!!!

From memory the bumpers will not go back far enough to completely eliminate the bellows and even if they did the car tapers at each bumper corner so there would be a gap between the bumper and the trim piece that the bellows would normally attach to.

You mean something like this? There still would be some bellows involved. (Photoshop)

I've seen the "Bellows" replaced with custom fibreglass pieces on a local car. It looked very clean.

Something like this.

I want to get rid of the accordion bellows, too. Can I make something to fit in there? Aluminum? fiberglass? Or just replace bumpers entirely?

Use masking tape to bridge the gap and then fibreglass over the top... When it sets remove and use two screws at the body end to secure the piee (at the back). Leave it free against the bumper. At the front do the same but secure it to the bumper instead of the body and again leave it free against the body. That way neither will catch air and if you bump into something the body won't be buckled. Make sense?

That's how the local car I mentioned had it done.
