I've been reading the posts on paint color and decided to check out mine. I've got a 78 ROW SC Targa. The color code on the inside of the driver side door post is 408-9-1. When I checked on the Paintscratch site to see what that corresponded to, the closest I found was L408, which is listed as chocolate brown. The trouble is, my car is amazon green metallic, which doesn't even appear as a code on Paintscratch until 1992!?
Of course, my first thought was that the car must have been repainted somewhere down the line. However, after an extensive investigation, including removing the door panels, all the carpeting in the trunk and carefully examining the engine compartment, it sure looks like the original paint. Even the insides of the doors and the area up under the defroster fan housing in the front are the same color as the rest of the car - no chocolate brown anywhere... Any ideas? If this was a repaint, it must have been a complete disassembly and VERY careful respray. (Sorry for no pictures - no digital camera or scanner.) Thanks - johnjr 78 SC Targa |
