help identify this part please - solved!
I lost the pictures i took when removing and disassembling my engine. Got everything back together now with a few pieces to go. This one i can't figure out where it goes, vent/breather of some type?
Its for a 76 Carrera 3.0 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370809897.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370809965.jpg |
I think that's the drip tube that attaches to the front (firewall) side of the engine tin with the large diameter end pointing downward. The small end is connected to the underside of the airbox by a rubber hose. The purpose is to route oil residue from the airbox down and away from the engine.

Thanks! I envisioned it towards the front of the engine, near the starter. I'll go take a look and see if it comes together.

ossiblue - thanks for the hint.
I found an old picture that I shared at the time with a few gear heads - glad I didn't wipe the sent folder! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370813842.jpg |
It should have a rubber sleeave on the end that acts as a valve to prevent air from being pulled into the air box. Part# 253 260 180

The sleeve wasn't on there when the engine came out but understand in principle it's purpose. Will add that back to the config.

It appears that the hose goes up to the CIS airbox down to that tube. My 79 had this little opening plugged; and I thought it was plugged from the factory.
Did all CIS systems have this "drip tube"? |
