911SC badge anyone?

This is undoubtedly an odd request, but when I bought my 911SC it had the Carrera script (rather than the blocky 911SC) on the rear decklid. It doesn't really bother me that much, except that everyone says, " Wow - you have a Carerra!" and I have to explain to them that no, it's not a Carrera, even though it says so.

So, my question is, does anyone have the black 911SC badge that they took off their car and would be willing to part with inexpensively? I know that pelican sells it, but for ~$40 it's not really worth it to me. However, if somebody would be willing to part with theirs for around $5 - $10, I could justify that.

Also, if possible, I'm looking for one that can be attached with adhesive, rather than the posts (but if you have the latter, I'd be willing to talk).

Thanks.

I think all the 911SC badges use posts and nuts to attach. No reason you can't remove the posts, and use some 3M 2-sided tape.

Or you could just run badgeless.

You just need a script that says "SUPER" above your present badge.

Steve,
Same thing happened to me.
My SC had a Carrera decklid, so I removed the Carrera badge and purchased new from a dealer an SC badge (cost approx. $35).

However, I have yet to affix the SC badge - and have been riding badgless since. I did go as far as filing off the posts/pegs from the rear -- but have been unsure as to what the best adhesive is.

Let us know if you use the 3M stuff, or whatever ends up doing the job best.

good luck,
Maurice

How do you attach the badges with the posts?

My SC badge has been sitting in my toolbox for about a year, because I'm too embarassed to ask how to install it.

With the badge you see here, I clipped off the studs and attached the badge with 3M two-sided sticky tape.

The posts go through holes in the lid, and have self-tapping nuts on the under side.

The problem is on a SC with a tail added, the holes are under the tail base. I don't want to drill new holes.

Maurice, (or anyone else who knows): That brand new SC badge you have, is it black? Or more of a platinum color? TIA.

Steve,
I can certainly understand why you wouldn't want your SC to wear a Carerra badge. Not only is confusing to onlookers, but it's demeaning to your car!

Besides looking for bargain camshafts and what not this weekend at the Swapmeet, I'll keep my eyes open for SC badges for you.

I think I know a guy that has two "911 SC" badges, different shades of gold/platinum. Neither are black.

OK, that makes sense. I didn't get any self tapping nuts when I ordered the badge.

The self tapping nuts, is that side to side or up and down?

"Speed-nut" is the description I was trying to find when I typed the reply, but it was nowhere to be found in my noggin. Self-tapping is close enough, I guess.

The number I have for them is 999.591.423.03

Try EBAY. I have seen NOS (new old stock) 911SC badges sell
for $20-25 at auction. If you get a used one and it needs refinishing like mine try cleaning with PrepSol (or alcahol) then
a few coats of black automotive enamel and put in your kitchen oven at 220 degrees for a few hours. Wife will refuse sex for several days but if you have been married more than ten years -who cares!

I'd suggest ebay - I found mine there for $10 plus shipping. Upon receipt I saw that the posts were already ground off so when I go to apply it I will just use some of the 3M double sided super strength tape.
