damping rates between front and rear suspension
My 78 930 is lowered with blistein shocks. Upon checking the damping the rear deflects and rebounds properly. The front however does not deflect at all even when standing on the bumper. Is this a symptom of over damped shocks?

No, it is probably your rubber bump stops, the need to be cut down or you strut basically has a rubber bump stop suspension with no shocks in play. I wore out a set of tires before I figured it out, cut about an inch and a half of rubber off of the stop and have been fine since.

Do you mean the bumper inside the shock at the top? If so, this seems strange as the shock should have been sized to prevent this. Is this a typical problem with lowered cars?
Thanks |

I had Koni cut my shock struts down about 2cm when I ran the 911 low for the track, but only so the shock did not bottom out. It shock dimensions do not impact the rubber bumper though, you need to get a shorter version for lowered cars. Maybe your 930 is just too low? You do need to maintain enough clearance between the swing A arm and the chassis, plus ensure the shocks do not bottom out, plus allow some room for the rubber bumper and some shock movement. The more correct method is to raise the spindles on the shock tower to get that super low look without destroying the suspensions ability to work.

What kind of bushings do you have? My old polyurethane ones were so bound up the suspension hardly moved.
