How to fit a 911 Gearbox to a 912 Stub Axle ?

Hi,

Does anyone have the definite answer of:

What is the best combination of Output shafts, C.V's and Driveshafts in order to fit a '70,'71 911 Dogleg Gearbox to a '68 912 stub axle ?

With all the early Hotrods out there, someone must know

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Chris

Ask Eric at PMB Performance.
He seems to know which CV goes with which axle etc.

whatever the spline in the gearbox or the flange, that is what you match, (XX spline for both, etc)

Thanks Haycait! I am purchasing a 915 trans w/ mech speedo soon and look to install it into my '67 912.

Thanks for the drawing Jury! That really expalins the combo of the whole thing.

The other option is to swap the 108mm 4bolt/2 pin stub axle into the hub. this will match the type 911 transmission and give you larger CVs and stronger axle.

Agree, but I think ( again think, I am no expert ) the problem is that the 108mm Stub axle will foul against the Handbrake guide on the early trailing arm. Also the larger diametre Driveshaft is longer.

Some other Driveshaft options:

SWAY-A-WAY - axles, torsion bars, and shocks for trucks, cars, and off-road vehicles - Axles

and

Race Ready > Sway A Way Irs Axles

Cheers
