Question Unexpected change in idle speed

Over the weekend I fitted new spark plugs, rotor and distributor cap. The car started and ran fine but the idle speed has jumped from 900 rpm to 1800 rpm. What gives? . I will check for air leaks when I get a chance, but nothing else was touched.
