But if I didnt want to get into major mods. Just adding 98 mm P/C 9:5 compression... Already have the EFI/Recurved Dizzy.

Would I be better off with the standard CIS cam or 964 Cam to get max Torque from 2k-5k Rpms?

Thanks!

3.2ss

I recently completed at 3.2ss build as well. Since the car is a '79, and I live in CA., CIS had to be retained. I went with the following:

9:5 98mm JE/Mahle P&C's
964 Cams
Electromotive Crankfire Ignition
SSI's w/ Dansk 2/2
'79 Large Port CIS with a little TB work

Dyno showed 235 hp and 210 tq. at the wheels. Peak HP @6450 and peak tq. @5100.
If you don't have Cali type smog laws to deal with, use a more aggresive cam with PMO's and 260 rwhp is quite possible.

I love the results, but costs can approach 3.6 territory. If I had to do it again....Hmmm....

Do you lose any low end grunt with 964 cams?

No. It actually has a much stronger, flatter torque curve throughout the rpm range.

I'm pretty sure you mean 9.5:1 compression ratio. Yes?

9:5 (works out to 4.5:1?) wouldn't get out or it's own way but it would probably run on kerosene.

I know, just a typo, but got me thinking.

Mine is 9.5:1 with CIS.

How do you get away with running SSIs, the '79 had a cat? Also, are you running single or dual plug (I'm assuming single).

Oh, and this with PMO's is my end goal... but a long way off with government pay. I probably won't go more aggressive with the cams as its mostly a street car. Nice to have an idea of what numbers I could expect.

Yes, single plug.
For smog test, I have a bursch style set-up with a cat welded in. It's loud, but it does the job for one day. I then plug in the smog pump (without actual plumbing) for show, and it's good to go.

I am looking at building a 3.2 or 3.4 ss using a 3.2 crank and rods with 98mm bore. Those who have posted above have you guys done the treadmill for some results?

I would like to EFI, but budget police might keep me with the CIS. I have spoken with Steve at Rennsport, and Pete and Andial and the big gains are going with a MOD-S type of cam and EFI.

Both said easily 230-260 range would be attainable. Can you guys verify that with your setups?

Thanks,

John

Hi,

I have a euro Carrera 3.0 that I have just blown the engine on and are looking to do a 3.2 SS retaining the CIS.

What difference does electromotive crankfire ignition make??

Just to clarify did you have 235hp and the wheels or the crank, as 235 at the wheels is a 20% boost over stock.

Do you have a copy of the dyno sheet - I'd be really interested to see please.

Thanks in advance.
