Post WUR - the mystery

I have a 1973.5 T with the first CIS setup. Searching for parts can be a pain, and now the WUR is one such part that has undergone many updates and numbers. I bought a WUR that came in the original Porsche box that is more fitting for collectors of old boxes! I have tried many sources to identify if truely this is the original WUR and have had no success. The Bosch Number is 0438 140 001 and the Porsche number is 911 110 927 00. I am getting superceeded numbers by the score. I just bought this from PAP here in Georgia and it collected dust for years on the shelf. Its still in the box and I have yet to take off the existing one. If anyone has an old Bosch catalog or Porsche order guide going back to to the good old 70's can you let me know if I got the correct item.

Thanks
Bob

My WUR is from a European car called a Ford Escort XR3i, it's modified to fit by the people who tune my car - but it looks easy. Basically a K-Jetronic set up as in BMW 3 Series (early E21), VW Golf. Maybe get a later one and modify to fit?

Here ya` go Bob !

I had a 74 that used the old first series type WUR and I was always concerned it would take a dump, so I looked for info on them and I fould this web site.

http://members.rennlist.com/jimwms/CIShome.html

It is very informative with all of the p/n's and photos of the different units.

Check out my web site that I have for the 74 - you'll find a lot more info on other projects there

Hope this helps !

Bob,

One of the up-fixin' books covers the procedure to update the old WUR with the newer model. I didn't pay much attention since I'm not running CIS, but it may be worth a look.
