VR or Alternator

Well I got my regulator today. Can you say not even close to a fit. Guess I learned my lesson. Seller wont even answer a PM. Don't worry folks I'll always still be honest in selling or giving parts within the community. Just ordered the new one from Pelican, A real VALEO one Mr. seller. I also got a few other things I needed along the way, so no big loss, just really disappointed that I'm wasting my time typing this and not wrenching!

OK venting over, guess I'll go out and find where that open vacuum line I found goes to! always something to do

I was gonna replace the VR and when I saw the condition of the altenator I decided to replace the whole thing. I did check the one I sent you as a trial fit and it was a perfect fit.

BTW post a pic of the VR you pulled and the one I sent you or email me at sacoffee@me.com. I am confused on what type of altenator you have, if you have an 84 it is either one of these and the VR I sent you fits these. I test fit it on M262 that I bought from PP

I want this to serve as a public apology to both Steve and the rest of you who may have read this. I WAS WRONG. I've been burned a few too many times I guess and after a really crappy day, I busted loose on the wrong person. I should have gotten more specs on the part, this situation was created by my own doing.

Oops, you have an 82' so your altenator would be one of these? From the pictures it should still work

The main difference is the arc at the bottom is far more extended than the original (original on right)



See the two tabs at the bottom of your part (left) they look as though they are meant to be cut for my application. Did the unit come with any documentation that may have stated that. Maybe the extra material is for the 928 application? I don't want to alter the part unless something tells me to do so. Those tabs are the reason the VR won't go into the alternator housing. Your part is about 3/16th too tall to fit. Even the bolt holes would line up if those tabs weren't there. I've looked at this since I last sent you the message, aside from the manufacture process that is the only difference I can see. The alternator is the original 82

Wow! Well no documentation came with part ... It slid right into the Valeo alternator I bought as well as the original Paris I removed. Maybe someone here knows this answer?

Finally back home from a work trip. I ended up installing a new regulator and all is well. The bulb was also burned out for the charge indicator light. I know the regulator was bad from all the tests you guys recommended and the install went a heck of a lot easier than I expected. When I started her up I was getting 14 +- ( was using analog meter ) volts at the battery posts.

These cars really react odd to low or inconsistent voltage. All my electrical gremlins, all those things I was "going to get to soon" disappeared. No more quick flashers and no intermittent fasten seat belt warning illumination ( w\seatbelt fastened! I found out I really don't need to upgrade my instrument lights, I actually had to dim them last night! The kicker, my H-1 headlights suddenly light the road up more than 7 feet in front of the car.

Do you have relays for the lights? Brightens them up and saves the stalk from frying.

PO has the right relay kit installed.

I always change BOTH the alternator and VR out at the same time,..always....
