Question backup lights

Im sure this has been discussed here before
but since I am a fairly new P-car owner I dont know these things yet. My backup lights were working intermittently and now have totally failed. I have tested the bulbs so I am pretty sure it is the switch. How hard is changing the switch on an 86 carrera and could it be something else.
thanks in advance for any help on this

In all that I've read, there seems to be a "floating" fuse somewhere in the luggage compartement. It's not with the other fuses. I havn't found it after lots of looking and postings on this board. Even asked the dealer but no one there knew. My license plate lights havn't worked for awhile but luck runs out sometime. Not stopped yet.

Anyone know where this fuse is??
