Correct Wheel Spacers for 8x16 Fuchs

I got some 8x16 Fuchs for my rear wheels for my 1988 911 CAB (got them just incase tires for 9x16 Fuchs get impossible to find). Anyway, I bought some spacers and want to make sure I have the correct ones. Porsche part number stamped on spacers is 477501701.

Thanks for the input.
Jason

I have an 83 with 245s on 8s.....no spacer. Usually spacers are used on turbo flared rides.

I've got 25mm spacers on my 7", brings the outside out to where 8" would sit. The 9" only sit another 10mm or so farther out than 8", so no more than 10mm spacers to make 8" look like 9".

20mm spacers with 911 offset 8" rears will move the outside lip out 3/8" or so FARTHER than the 9". They may be just about right if your new 8" are the 951 offset.

A 951 offset is one inch MORE inboard than the 911, 8 or 9 inch Fuchs.....you can fit 8 and 9s under SCs and Carerraswith stock fenders but are limitted to tire size....usually around 245s.

951 8 inchers look like a 16x7, 911 Fuchs on the outside.

Just my experience. If you want to roll the fenders or modify with flares...best are off.

just to sum up (as I understand it) -- if you 16x8 wheels are 911 offset, you'd only need/want the spacers if your cab is a wide body, the 16/x wheels outer offset is close to the same as the 16x9, with much/all of the additional inch width of the 16x9 sitting inside of the hub. So, if you didn't need spacers with the 16x9, I don't think they'd make sense with the 16x8.

I have to admit being clueless on this need for spacers or not.

I attached a shot of my current wheels - 9x16. I just bought tires all around but had a very limited choice for the rears for 9x16 rims. So, I bought some 8x16 fuchs for the rears just in case in the future tires are impossible to get for the 9x16's. The 8x16's had many more choices.

So maybe with the 8x16's I don't even need spacers? Or the spacers are for a 9x16 look on a 8x16 rims? Just wanted to make sure these spacers I got would work for me and I value the expertise here.

My front fuchs are 7x16's BTW. So, if the looks would be better, I could slap on the 8x16's on the front for fun.

I'm not endorsing it, but 16x8 ET+11mm will fit with spacers if you want to use them. Not really necessary since the wheel fills the flare pretty well w/out a spacer.

I currently have 16x8 ET+11mm wheels on the back of my '87 Carrera with 21mm factory spacers from a 928 and 245/45-16 tires. It's a tight fit. Gotta have the negative camber cranked in there. Because if you don't, you'll cut a tire on the fender lip.

My car is a perfect test case right now. Reassembled the suspension last month and haven't gotten around to self-aligning it yet. But it's driveable in the sense that I can pull it out of the garage and drive around the block if need be.

One side I had marked the alignment bolts and put them back in same spot upon reassembly. That side is good. Other side, nope. Must have forgot to mark the bolts so I just slapped it back together. That side is all out of whack on camber. So much out of whack that I cut my brand new tire. Shame on me for leaving the spacers on there!

I just put 911 offset 8" Fuchs on the rear and transferred the 7" to the front of my '86 Carrera. The 7" look great in the front being about 3mm inside of the body. The 8" rears are way too inboard IMHO and don't match the front. I just ordered 15mm spacers for the rear which should match the front just about perfectly.
