Repaired Odometer - Speedo Lights Not Working

Hi, I repaired my busted odo gear today and after getting everything put back together it all works spledidly.. except the backlights for the speedo. The green parking light works, the speedo and odo work perfectly but the backlights do not work. They seem seated as they should be. I've not checked the bulbs. I've searched and haven't found a solution.

PS 1986 3.2.

Cheers.

Ground wire connected?

Try rearranging the order of the three lights for the speedo.
Same thing happened to me after I repaired mine. I labeled all the wires correctly but the lights need to be inserted in a certain order.

I was careful to mark the light positions so they're in correctly. If it was a ground issue would that not also affect the green running lamps bulb? All the remaining wires (8 in total) are attached as in the positions they came from. Porsche uses solid brown for grounds correct?

Bumping this up for fresh new idea time.

I recently reinstalled my 1979 speedometer after a North Hollywood odometer repair. I als initially did some cross wiring and nothing worked right. Then I went back to the Bentley schematics and got it right. Fortunately I did not burn anything. My two illumination light bulbs were then hooked up to two black and blue wires. They could be tested for 12V with the light switch turned on. If 12V don't arrive at the speedometer illumination bulbs something went wrong down stream. Of course the right brown ground wire has to be connected to the speedometer case. Incidentally later than 79 models also have another wire connected that has something to do with a mileage counter.

Here is my 79 SC speedometer hook-up:

How hard was it to change the odometer gear?? How long did it take?

It was pretty easy actually. That is so mainly due to the great write-ups found in the forum. It didn't take too long at all and I am by no means a master mechanic.
