Weird Pertronix ??? - And YES, I did search first...

I have ~ 6 hrs of researching this one and haven't seen it addressed.

I'm installing a Pertronix Ignitor in place of points on my '75 with the CDI box. (Let's not debate the merits of this, please.) I'm referencing all the info here at Pelican (which all refers back to the Pertronix wiring diagram on their Q&A page.)

I have black wire of the Pertronix connected to the stock points pick-up wire (which runs to the CDI box C terminal and tach). I have connected red wire of the Pertronix unit to switch power, which is fuse 22 on the rear fuse block. (Numerous posts indicate that this should be connected to fuse 23, but I don't believe that is correct as fuse 23 has 12V when the ignition is off.)

With the Pertronix unit completely disconnected, I see 12V at fuse 22 with ignition on and 0V with ignition off. However, connecting the Pertronix unit yields ~1.2V at fuse 22 with the ignition OFF. (I've traced this back and seem to have ~2.4MOhm between fuse 22 and the battery terminal with the Pertronix unit connected and ignition off. This doesn't seem correct unless there is high-impedance "leakage" within the Pertronix unit.)

Have other Pertronix users seen similar behavior?

Thanks for the help.

OK - If you have a (successful and running installation of a) Pertronix Ignitor with the CDI box in a mid-year, then please try this: With battery disconnected, measure the resistance between your primary battery terminal and the terminal that you have connected to the red lead of the Ignitor. What resistance do you get?
