1975 911S - is it safe to drive?

All, this is a photo of the front left (driver's) side. I am trying to identify how severe is this issue - meaning can the car be driven at all at this point. It looks bad but I want your opinion. The other side looks much better... I am just not that ready to do any body work on it.

Its safe enough to drive into the garage, but no further. If you had to drive a very short distance to get it repaired it would probably be fine, some have reported that entire section breaking free while driving without major drama. I would not risk it though, you never know when you have to do an emergency manoeuvre.

Yes, along with a few other small panels possibly.

Classic battery leakage. Still rust and structural damage all the same. I would not drive it over about 10 mph until repaired.

I had a 1968 Mustag GT fastback in highland green in 1989. Beautiful car, but unknown tome was a similar rust issue on the idler arm mount. I happened to be pulling into my driveway when it let go, but if i was on the highway, I would have had no control. I recommend no driving.

If you're interested, I have all the parts from restoration design to repair that. My car had the same issue, and I ended up going a different route to repair it, and didn't end up needing the Restoration Design panels.

PM me if your interested...

Yes, at least that, but Vertex isn't the best place, even though their prices are tempting. As others have said, try Restoration Design.

Thank you guys for dose of reality and helpful links. I am pondering upon the worse case scenario vs. best... This was sort of unexpected though long term goals were doing the bottom as i had some concerns. Just didnt know it was that bad. I have few projectsc going on and need to consider priority, time and finances. This may end up as the end of the road for it. Parting out is part of the debate ...

Sojahseh, thanks for the offer, i might go for it pending decision.

I've been right where you are right now. I feel for you. Most of those situations are repairable. I considered parting mine out as well, but decided against it. Keep me posted.

I say drive it, with a helmet and knee pads on, not to mention a large anchor in the back with chain. I mean, if Porsche designs everything to be 400% and most of us use only 100% of structure, engine, and drivetrain, it looks to me that 200% of that metal is still intact. I have seen 911s in far worse shape in this area and still being driven...we all gotta go sometime.
