There should be a silver sticker on the bottom I believe (the side you don't have photographed) with the part number. Anyhow, that looks correct and was certainly a box that Porsche was installing at that time.

my 77s had the blue permatune installed. It worked great.

I would stay far away from the new Permatune units. I have a 1970 911 that received a 3 liter motor 3 years ago. The conversion was done by a very reputable shop in Albuquerque. The motor is a 79 3.0 unit. I bought the motor without a CD box, so a brand new 6 pin Permatune was put in..... to the tune of well over $500. A new Permatune coil was also put in at the same time. All the work was done by the shop in Albuquerque and the car ran great when it was all done. I was stationed in Japan at the time the conversion was done (I'm an officer in the USN) and I took a trip home to see and drive the car. I put about a hunded miles on the car. The car was then stored indoors and covered with my brother (another car nut) who started it every month or so. Ironically, in the meantime I bought a replacement used Bosch CDI here on the forum in case the Permatune shorted out- I had read forum threads about the propensity for this to happen. After 18 months it did fail. The car had been driven less than 150 miles and around 20 start-stop cycles. I was glad that I had the spare Bosch 6 pin- the car ran great again with the Bosch unit. I sent the Permatune in to Lonnie to have him test it after I moved back to the USA. The main output was shorted out as well as the tach output. He first blamed it on someone connecting a battery charger backwards on it. When I assured him that was not the case, he said it must be from a bad ground. He thought there was probably corrosion somewhere in the ground and that must have caused it. At any rate, the ground was fine, and it continues to run beautifully with the Bosch unit. Of course, the Permatune could not be repaired so my brand new shiny Permatune box was only worthwhile as a paperweight.

In summary, I would strongly advise anyone to not invest in a Permatune unit. That was a tremendous amount of money spend on something that had very few miles and start stop cycles on it. I am certainly not one to be antagonistic or caustic about things, and I thought pretty hard about posting any of this. However, it may save someone else from spending hundreds of dollars and having the same thing happen.
