1985 Porsche Blaupunkt radio repair
My Blaupunkt radio in my 1985 Porsche, 911 has very poor reception on both AM and FM. My initial thought is there is a problem with the antenna which I believe is embedded in the windshield or the antenna amplifier if there's one installed. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be helpful.

THE easiest thing to do is check the antenna for continuity or pull out the radio and hook it up to a known good antenna or piece of coax.

Does anyone know if there's a separate amplifier for the antenna?

Yes it should be by the hinge on the passenger side in the frunk. There is a 12v lead that is switched that goes to your radio, this is sometimes not connected or lost power, and may be your problem. It was put there to help the poor window antenna with reception. If you have a separate whip antenna it may work better without it.

Might this be mounted several inches behind the trunk hinge on the fender side? From what I can see there is at least 1 wire connected (there may be more but not visible) to a small black box. Also, what do you mean "there is a 12v lead that is switched"?
