Call Griffiths. He will quote you a price to get cold air. His stuff is not cheap but top quality never is.

No buyers remorse here from my Griffiths system. With out a doubt it is the best upgrade or project I have done to my 911.

If you are spending the time and money to put in that engine you deserve the best AC system you can get. The finished system will look like it is OEM and be that level of quality. When you drive around in Texas with cold air you will love the system as much as the new engine.

RSTarga 07-28-2013 08:11 AM

Your options are Sanden or Nippondenso, York are old technology and vibrate like crazy also take more power.

''..not cheap..." Read..EXPENSIVE. "..top quality.." Yes, 190 proof snake oil.

Product performance VS OEM, questionable

Kuehl/Griffiths "improved" evaporator, less 1% improvement vs OEM/factory.

Kuehl/Griffiths "Huricane" blower, 30% benchtest improvement, real world, flow restriction, UNKNOWN.

Kuehl /Griffiths "improved" front lip condenser, OEM works better overall.

Some time ago Kuehl/Griffiths sold/marketed a condenser/fan assembly unique to the 930 turbo 911 series. They still sell the condenser but not with the fan. When asked why, repeatedly, there has been no answer forthcoming.

In several Posts Kuehl/Griffiths has aluded to having tested fans to help cool the rear lid condenser. For some reason it was decided not to bring the product to market. It would be nice to know how the testing went and why the product idea was abandoned.

Kuehl was kind enough to test my theory that rising high side system pressure resulting from "after-run" engine heat might be the causative factor regarding loss of refrigerant. Non-barrier hoses appear to not leak for the entire industry of this ear but not "us".

Regretably Kuehl modified the test procedure in a way that biased the results. Not really likely to have been intentional on Kuehl's part, but on the other hand he has refused to acknowledge the mistake

Are you thinking the fans worked so good that he pulled the offer because it would detract from condenser and "kit" sales?

Let's get it on the table.

Ha ha - wow, I bet that is exactly what wwest is implying - the fan worked so well that Griff thought, "Oh shat, this inexpensive fix is going to hurt sales of our high end items, so I better pull it"! That's just too funny - thanks Bob! :D

I think in the northern states it would make a difference. Maybe enough to drop the vent temps a fair "incremental" amount. What the delta is, I don't know. 55F to 49F? Not a show stopper but 5-8 degrees F (armchair talkin' here) vent temps is awesome if ambient is 85F.

However, if kuehl is offering packages, he is smart enough to have assembled a "northern" package that would include the fans, barrier hose, Sanden rotary or the like, a Hurricane blower and R/D as well as the R134A change out kit from R12. He would still pull some decent margin on those items given they are 911 specific and they would work.

That package is going to be well, well, well over a long one, so there may be more to it than just "Shat, I can't do that cause I would shoot me little feets off"

Regards,

Yeah, wwest is in the "ignore" bucket.

I read all of his writing, and when he started to repeat himself, I figured I read all there was to read. And since none of it had value, why bother with it?

Well, entertainment value, I suppose. LOL.

This is one of the reasons he invites folks to talk with him first. If his intent was to vacuum your wallet as quickly as possible, he wouldn't try to customize the packages specifically for your use and climate. And he is cost-conscious - discussions include cost:benefit associated with adding or subtracting various kit pieces.

It doesn't make sense that he's looking to be shady - in this small community, shady gets you on the outs in a few short posts.

Well eventually, I am going to test it here in burn ass Texas (like I said in that thread I started) - haven't been able to get to it yet as I have been struggling with a overly rich running problem (so rich the engine will bog down/misfire when accelerating hard in 4th gear). I've been getting a lot of help with that on the 930 forum and have been making progress, so hopefully before too long, I will be able to mount the fan to the tail condenser and see what effect it has on cabin and oil temps. I can tell you that right now, even with the Zims fender condenser and perfect system pressures, the a/c is not good enough for daytime temps above 90 - better than nothing but not quite comfortable (even with dark tinted glass) - much better after the sun goes down, early morning, and such.

Not a chance.

Picture the trick fan kits that would be available from countless aftermarket suppliers if they were the answer to all ac issues.

Exactly. Maybe wwest thinks he's the first guy that every dated this girl?

And when her virtue is questioned, he runs all hot over it.

Self-delusional at best.

kuehl 07-29-2013 03:32 AM

With the 964 or 993 engine use the factory 10PA15C Denso.

BAM. Good one.

However, the metaphorical "she" would be a tough-as-nails butch "L-word" if she solved all mid-year 911 AC problems.

Insulting the female gender..??

brads911sc 07-29-2013 07:25 AM

This is like asked a high society woman to work as a maid. Not gonna happen... No reason to keep talking about ineffective solutions. Unless wwest is willing to post the videos showing it works.
