700,000 $ 934 Wha? Who?
Ok, have I missed the boat completely, or what is this thing?
Never heard of a 934 targa before... 700,000$ for a 78 911?. Hmm, Not likely. Just curious if this is a story or a real deal Thanks! Chuck

Load of bollocks. A 934 is a turbo car for a start and has extra gaurd extensions.
Also, 500hp from a non-turbo twin plug 3 litre - no way! |

The ad says it "winds up to 9000 rpm...but if you look at the tach it only redlines at 6500??

I'm there, dude.
A joke, right?
- 935's were slantnosed. Were any 934's? - Wouldn't he provide more detailed info if starting price is $100K? - What's with the cheesed out interior? Would a factory race conversion have heated power seats and a booming stereo? - A 6400 rpm redline/8000 rpm max tach in this "500 HP and winds up to 9,000 RPM red line" beast? I'm sure I missed a few things. It's gotta be bs. A good laugh anyway. |

Kind of funny, he does have a picture of a 934 on his ad.
This is a 934: ![]() Well, a die-cast 934 anyway. Tom |

I was skeptical at first. But then I saw that Penzoil Racing Oil has signed off on the sale of this model. What a rare opportunity to own the most desirable Porsche of all time.
(Okay, now, seriously... WTF?? )

I'm fairly low down on the totem pole of Porsche knowledge, but it does have 12 spark plug wires. Maybe they only raced the coupe and the ones that didn't get raced had the ported and polished engines. Maybe only the coupes where enhanced to 500HP and 9500 rpm and the Targas were left with what ever 12 spark plugs and a ported and polished engine give you.
If only the coupes were raced and it was a coup that sold for $700,000, then this might be a nice car. I wonder what he's willing to let it go for (what the reserve is). Nevermind. I don't have close to that much money to spend and if I did have this car I would drive it way too much for an investment.

Yes, this car is the real thing! It is pretty well known that the 934 race cars had electric window lifts (the minimum weight restrictions were so high, Porsche didn't bother to remove them).
What most people don't know, is that most of the 934's had faux Testarossa side air intakes: Also, they had regular seatbelts & center consoles: All true, really! No, really!

I believe that the factory did use Permatunes on some cars...
Agreed, this car is nothing like a 934 - I'm not sure where he's going with this... -Wayne

I did the "ask seller question" via eBay and sent private email asking for the VIN...so far no answer and I don't expect one.

When Porsche built the 934, they did go to the assembly line and pull cars to convert, it's just that they pulled 930's as the starting point and there were no 930 Targas at that time. The weight restrictions were not severe so Porsche left the electric windows in many of the 934's as there was no need to try and get the cars lighter. They were in the 500hp range but obviously a much more radical motor than this one. Did they all have the mechanically driven injection pumps or were some of them actually using the CIS system..?
This guys engine has the A/C pulley still on the fan, it's obviously a street engine which has been dual-plugged etc. If it makes 300 hp it would be remarkable, 500 is a joke. This guy might really believe his story which is even worse. Looks like a nice car for around 25K if the motor is good. Yes, Porsche did use Permatune CD's for a year or so, seems like it was in the mid 70's. They are listed in the factory parts books.

My bid is $6500. That's the price I bought the last one at.
It looks a lot like this one! Works for me. Good luck, David Duffield |

The one and only bid is from someone with a lot of ebay experience (457 transactions), which makes me wonder if he/she honestly bid on this joke! The seller has legitimate/positive ebay activity too, mostly buying.
Could this merger between moronic seller and idiotic buyer, unfolding right before our eyes, actually be for real? |

Since there is only one bid at 100,000 and it is the first, I would just assume it is someone who is working with the seller to commit the fraud. Those 400 or so transactions could have come from $2 items or previous frauds, is it possible? I don't think anyone will bid on it besides someone else working in tandem with the seller.
