Does anyone know this outfit? Are they qualified to restore an early 911?

Redline is well-respected, at the high side of the price range, and usually has a long waiting list.

Redline.
Pete Zimmerman used to own red line. I think he still does. Ran POC with him 20 years ago. He is qualified but expensive. Nice guy however.

Pete retired a few years ago I believe. Not sure who's running the place now but in my very limited experience I'd second the "slow and expensive" comment. I took my business elsewhere. YMMV of course.

Check out Concourse Refinishing in Santa Barbara, not too much further north than Santa Monica. The guy to ask for is Victor Miles. This shop is mainly into 356's but has done 911's as well as Ferrari etc. I worked there about eight years ago and the same people are still there, metal finishing and painting are top notch. Attention to detail is high and they have a guy named Dick Jeffers (not sure if he's still around, possibly retired), who does incredible interiors, original german materials+duplicates the original look, construction and feel. Price I am not sure of other than not cheap but worth it. If your shopping around it's worth checking out, it's a nice drive up from Santa Monica anyway and they always seem to have some interesting Examples of there work in progress and finished. Other than that its time to get your hands dirty, and get intimately involved with your 911. Good luck to you------------------Jeff

I'm pretty sure Brace does his cars - Brace's Auto Body in Marina Del Rey. Last time I was in I saw some 356's and Seinfeld's recently purchased 911R hood being worked on... |
